The ‘Home to You’ campaign by Airbnb uses birds and birdhouses as a metaphor for the people that use its service and the range of accommodations it offers. Birds are creatures that are free to travel, land in new places and make nests for themselves. Inspired by these avian animals, Airbnb created ‘Birdbnb’ and designed 50 birdhouses after listings on its website.
The birdhouse designs are incredibly diverse, ranging from quaint country cottages to victorian villas and even eclectic French caravans.
The birdhouses were strung up on the branches of trees and like Aibnb, the Birdbnb birdhouses provided a temporary place for the birds to stay. As the NY Times notes, Airbnb has done minimal advertising and this "new campaign is its first, major, integrated national effort."
