Cpl. Kendra Hernandez and Cpl. Kimberly Pike, both Marines, got together in December and donated more than 26 inches of hair to Locks of Love. They join the ranks of many others including Girl Scouts, church groups and celebrities like Ann Curry, (see video) who have cut and donated their hair.
Locks of Love is a non-profit that provides hairpieces to children who have lost their hair for any reason. Many of the children that are helped by the organization suffer from alopecia areata which leaves them bald.
There are several other nonprofit organizations that accept hair donations. Be sure to do your homework so your donation will be put to good use.
