Revolutions have ended and started because of a cause and there’s always going to be bloodshed and violence attached to it; this guitar gun creation by designer Jimmy DiResta aims to fuel a revolution of non-violence.
The ‘GATTAR’ is a decommissioned AK-47 that was transformed into a guitar by DiResta for artist Wycleaf Jean. Jean and DiResta chose to remake an AK-47 because it’s a gun that’s symbolic to revolutions. The assimilation of guns and music resulted in this creation for advocacy of a revolution of non-violence.
Assimilating two contradictory pieces is hard. This beautifully rendered guitar balances two opposing forces in perfect synchronicity.
