McDonald's Canada Opened Two Green Concept Restaurants

McDonald's Canada is launching two green concept restaurants in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. The restaurants will be located in London, Ontario, and Vancouver, B.C.

The green concept restaurants are part of McDonald's Canada's efforts to source 100% of its packing from renewable and recycled materials. The restaurants will feature recyclable cups that are fully pulpable -- currently, McDonald's cups are wax-lined making them unrecyclable. Lids will be made from wood-fiber that are FSC-certified and recyclable and McDonald's Canada is also transitioning to wooden culter and paper straws.

"We are proud of the progress our Canadian organization is making towards our global packaging sustainability goals – it matters to our guests, and we will continue taking our environmental responsibility seriously," says John Betts, President and CEO at McDonald's Canada. McDonald's has internationally committed to having all packaging being recyclable by 2025 to help in reducing worldwide pollution.
