Food Connect is an innovative new app that is designed to minimize food waste among restaurants and parties that will experience a high volume of diners at the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
The app, available to download through both the App Store and Google Play, allows restaurants and hosts of large parties to sign up if they have leftovers that they're looking to donate. Once a user enters in their location into the app, they are connected with a volunteer driver who goes and picks up the food before delivering it to food providers allied with the Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger.
While large events like the Democratic National Convention offer lots of opportunities to businesses, they can also result in unnecessary waste. Thankfully, the Food Connect app is set to engage in food waste prevention thanks to an innovative app.
