At TCT Asia 2018, a 3D printing and additive manufacturing event, 3D printer company DediBot unveiled its concept 'Fly Elephant' printer.
While many 3D printers are constrained by desktop-sized cubic or rectangular forms, this 3D printer concept sets itself apart with a drone-like shape. As a printer that boasts the ability to fly, the premise is that the Fly Elephant would be able to make 3D prints of any shape and size, unlike many additive manufacturing machines that are restricted by the constraints of their enclosure.
It is imagined that the Fly Elephant printer could be used to rapidly prototype large structures, expediting the building process for everything from underwater structures to objects in outer space.
