The cake is the handiwork of 18-year-old Francesca Byrnes, who created it to satisfy frequent custom orders. To create the neon-colored cake, she started with colorful buttercream then focused on the sugar work. To create the life-sized Cheetos, she used red fondant, piping gel, and real Flamin' Hot Cheetos dust. The Mountain Dew logo is also made from fondant, while the finishing touch is a bag of Cheetos tipped upside down.
