The provincial government of the Western Canadian province of Alberta has released a brand new smartphone and tablet app, dubbed Alberta Approved Farmers' Market, that is designed to make it easier than ever for Albertans to locate and visit farmers' markets.
The app only lists approved farmer's markets, meaning that 80 per cent of vendors meet the so-called 'make it, bake it, grow it' criteria.
Farmers' markets are an increasingly important part of the agricultural economy of Alberta, and farmers' market visits are an important part of the province's culture. Ultimately, the Alberta Approved Farmers' Market app helps buyers support their local farmers whilst making it easier for them to access the freshest and most delicious local food products.
