This completely novel design by Japanese architect Fumihiko Sano will most likely start a new architecture craze, in which we will be seeing more homes sporting fabric-inspired exteriors.
Using layers of fine stainless steel to create this gauzy mesh look that completely wraps around the house, the architect from design studio Phenomenon wanted to make sure he provided a place for his client that was big enough for her to enjoy her hobby of dyeing kimonos.
Located in Tokyo, the ‘MoyaMoya House’ obtained its fabric-inspired exteriors look because Sano cleverly covered the metal framework he had built around the structure with metal mesh creating a ‘moire effect’—when there is the illusion of movement—to give the client more privacy.
"By creating the space which makes the border between the inside and the outside of the building vague, the inside thereof is difficult to see from the outside," says Sano.
