Bureau is a fine purveyor of experimental architecture and design. The studio's latest project is a great example of that. Located in Geneva, Switzerland, the creativity-focused firm tore down a house only to build it back up again — albeit with a much more complex layout. The method through which this was completed has been dubbed a form of "surgical intervention" by Bureau's founder — Daniel Zamarbide.
For this venture in experimental architecture, there was no brief and no client. Instead, the daring firm was inspired to curate a dwelling "for [a] fictional protagonist of [the] 1963 film The Servant." Dubbed 'Mr. Barrett's House,' the structure is lined with birch plywood panels, it features an open-plan layout and it boasts high ceilings that create a feeling of more space.
