The 'Endangered' exhibition by Porky Hefer has been created by the South Africa-based artist as a whimsical collection of chairs that all put a focus on the animals in our world that are experiencing hardship.
The seats are all designed in a rather oversized, cartoonish manner and include the polar bear, orangutan, white shark, blue whale and the sloth, which are all on the endangered species list. The chairs are all made by hand from environmentally sustainable materials in Cape Town and draw inspiration from traditional African techniques.
The 'Endangered' exhibition chairs were created in close collaboration with Ronel Jordaan, Heart Works and Mielie, and will be sold through Southern Guild and SFA Advisory with 25% of the proceeds benefiting the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation for conservation efforts.
