Stackable chairs are commonplace within schools and offices but often feature a plastic construction, so the 'PEEL' chair has been created as a decidedly sustainable alternative.
Created in collaboration by the women-founded and women-owned PROWL Studio and M4 Factory, the chair is injection-molded using hemp to prioritize a biodegradable and compostable construction. The chair won't leave behind any harmful materials or residues after use and can be entirely disposed of to start the decomposition process. The frame is rated to take up to six-months to break down, while the remainder decomposes at a similar speed to an orange peel.
The 'PEEL' chair will be at Salone Del Mobile 2023 in Milan and identifies what can be done to give the common furniture piece a sustainability overhaul.
