The East of England Co-op and Retail Insight are set to work together for another three years, continuing a collaboration that began in 2021. This ongoing relationship has seen the retailer utilize Retail Insight's innovative WasteInsight solution, a cloud-based platform designed to combat food waste across their stores.
As their partnership deepens, Retail Insight has taken things further by integrating the Co-op’s electronic shelf-edge labels (ESLs) into the WasteInsight system.
With the new update, store associates now receive real-time alerts on their handheld devices, notifying them of items nearing expiration dates that need to be marked down. With a tap, they can trigger the corresponding ESL to flash.
After a successful pilot, the East of England Co-op has rolled out this enhanced solution in 18 stores, with plans to extend it to all its ESL-equipped food stores by September.
