OYO Architects Designs the Derelict Dune House in Belgium

Architecture studio OYO presents its latest renovation project of the derelict Dune House located in Belgium. The home in lined with wood in the interiors with the purpose of bringing a more harmonious connection with nature from within. It is half engulfed in the sandy plot and the team elevates the home in a more modern way. The changes celebrate the structure and existing character of the space.

OYO Architects explains to Dezeen, "We did not want to interfere with the authentic feel: the derelict house was charming, well-oriented and had an interesting layout which we preserved to a large extent. The clients were looking for a house where they could swim together, play with the grandchildren, cook for family and enjoy dinners at home. We wanted to design a sustainable, long-lasting home without compromising on living comfort and connection to bring the house into more harmony with the nature of the dunes."
