Disappearing Water Portraits

Amnesty International Creates a Drawing in Water to Raise Awareness

In order to bring awareness to the high number of people who are disappearing, Amnesty International got artist Nicholas Kashain to create a drawing in water that would fade away just like many missing people have. Dubbed the 'Fading Portraits,' these water paintings used the city's streets as their canvas, featuring the faces of people who have seemingly vanished. These paintings were added to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, raising awareness of the torture and injustice that surrounds this issue.

Unlike a pressure wash graffiti stencil, these paintbrush drawings have a human touch to them. This stunt is bound to be one that haunts you long after seeing these faces painted on the public street. Best of all, this stunt doesn't create any waste in order to get its message across.
