Swiss design studio Kosmos Architects presents a look at its new multifaceted design in the form of what it calls 'Dice.' This is a piece of furniture made from oak materials and it functions as a stool, a lamp, a footrest, or a coffee table. The structure features five prongs and boasts an overall weight of 10.5 kilograms. The oak wooden frame has a warm coating and it is slightly detailed with a checkerboard pattern.
Leonid Slonimskiy speaks about the design to Dezeen, explaining that it is made from a stack of solid oak pieces using a milling machine. He notes, "We made the lamp removable so that there are no electrical cords and to make the object independent. The robotic arm cut away pieces of wood with a rotating drill until the shape got smoother, and then we manually sanded and oiled the piece. Dice combines new technologies and handcraft."
