Simplistic Desert Residences

This Desert Home Complements Its Stark Surroundings

Campos Leckie studio designed 'Zacatitos 02,'a desert home located in Mexico's Baja California Sur.

The home is the second in a series of desert home prototypes. The experimental design, which plays with space in relation to the surrounding landscape, features a smooth cross-over between the interior and exterior. Specifically, the living area is ensconced with three retractable glass walls. The glass is complemented by concrete, steel and aluminum materials, which look particularly eye-catching in the middle of the desert.

The primary focus of the home is to ensure the inhabitants never feel like they are completely inside or outside. The project description elaborates: "The detail-oriented minimalism evoke an inevitability that is a direct reflection of the frugality and sparseness that is the ethos of this landscape."
