Deep-Fried Kale Clusters

This Deep-Fried Food Turns Kale into an Unhealthy Treat

The novelty of deep-fried food has caught on from to everything from cookies to coffee at state fairs, restaurants and beyond. One of the 50 new dishes introduced at this year's Minnesota State Fair are the 'Wine Fried Kalettes,' a snack that instantly rebrands a well-known superfood into a junk food. As deep-frying anything tends to do, the snack becomes a lot more indulgent with the addition of batter.

True to their name, the Wine Fried Kalettes are battered and fried in wine before serving. When they are ready to eat, this unusual kale snack is paired with a sweet and exotic chili Thai sauce.

As well as being right at home at the Minnesota State Fair, if sold by the bag, these indulgent snacks would likely be just as much of a hit for home snacking as potato chips.
