Death-Exploring Exhibitions

Death: The Human Experience Contains Skeletons, Mummies and Coffins

'Death: The Human Experience' is an archaeological exhibit that explores the most universal human experience and the modern stigma that surrounds it.

By exploring the ancient rituals and foreign cultural customs that honor and talk about death, Death: The Human Experience draws attention to the reluctance to talk about death in modern Western societies. The exhibit brings together 200 artifacts including coffins, mummies, traditional clothing for mourning and items placed in graves. It also depicts Mexico's Day of the Dead celebrations -- a traditional holiday and festival where the deceased are honored and celebrated. At the end of the exhibit, a special installation presents the current debate around end of life policies and choices.

Death: The Human Experience runs until March 2016 at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and is already drawing fascinated crowds.
