Lalique Created a Showpiece Wine Barrel for a Winery's 400th Anniversary

In 2014, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey was acquired by Lalique Chairman and CEO Silvio Denz, who commissioned a special crystal wine barrel to celebrate a milestone anniversary. For the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey's 400th anniversary, a first-of-its-kind transparent wine barrel has been created to display hundreds of liters of 2013 Premier Grand Cru Classé Sauternes.

This showpiece wine barrel required great technical feats to develop and took years to complete, involving a dozen craft skills and techniques like lost-wax casting, which was practiced by René Lalique up to 1930. The finished piece integrates details like mimic metal hoops and stoppers that reference elements of Lalique's own brand and history as well. This stunning and fragile crystal wine barrel is mostly for display purposes and offers guests something enchanting to discover when they visit the winery.
