Imagine a zoo that is a high-rise tower. Now imagine that the tower is a waterfall. Got the image? That is the Costanera Sur, which is a proposal for a vertical zoo in Buenos Aires. The Costanera Sur, designed by Visiondivision, was conceived with the aim of transforming rubble from old highways into a a pillar of falling water that would be home to various animals.
Meant to be entirely self-sufficient, the Costanera Sur would use water from a nearby river to pump through the building in order to create a rooftop pool and waterfall (that would be home to the zoo's dolphins) cascading over the sides of the building. Monkeys and birds would roam free in the Costanera Sur building, while other animals would be contained on separate floors in their appropriate habitats.
