Valentiny HVP Architects designed a massive shell-like concrete auditorium for 'Música em Trancoso.' a week-long music festival in Brazil. Trancoso is a popular beach town of on Brazil's Bahia coast. The festival is now running for the third consecutive year and this auditorium will serve as a permanent venue for the future.
The auditorium is called the Mozarteum Brasileiro Theater and is able to accommodate 1,100 people and it can be used both indoor and outdoor events. The large triangular openings in the concrete structure are entrances leading to the different seating areas; the smaller triangular opening are windows decorated with engraved bronze panels. The studio said, "The engravings refer to both the local nature with its impressive cliffs and the birth of the Brazilian nation." The auditorium is built for spectacular views and acoustic performances.
