Enorme Studio's newly erected community pavilion is the result of an annual summer workshop entitled 'Taller del Desierto.' The event is organized by the Institute of Architecture and Design of Chihuahua and it is an attempt at connecting architects with children. The color-rich and geometric-forward creation is done in collaboration between the Madrid-based firm, local architects Juan Castillo and Miguel Heredia, as well as 19 children.
The result is an inviting multi-patterned canopy that provides shade for activities. The community pavilion is culturally informed as the aesthetic of it is directly tied to "popular Mexican iconographies such as the artisanal and colorful work of the alerbrijes."
The structure was made to be affordable and the overall design accessible. The community pavilion by Enorme Studios definitely gives the site a playful twist.
