The largest cable company in America, Comcast has enlisted world renowned architecture and design firm Foster + Partners in building a $1.5 billion, 59-storey Comcast tower for its headquarters in the city of Malvern, Philadelphia. The tower will be constructed by 2017 and it will be set to rise to 1,121 feet and will become America’s tallest structure outside of New York and Chicago.
The Comcast Innovation and Technology Center will also be home to a 200 unit Four Seasons Hotel, production centers for two local stations owned by Comcast as well as commercial office spaces.
The structure features a stacked design and is set to become the beacon of the city’s skyline. The British architect behind the project, Norman Foster comments on the glass and stainless steel clad building. He states, "it is an opportunity to create a unique and sustainable model for mixed-use, high density development, which uniquely combines spaces for high tech research and development with restaurants, gardens, fitness facilities and a significant public reception space—a window on Philadelphia."
