Traid's Closet Clear-out Challenge Boosts Garment Donations

Second-hand clothing charity Traid is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Closet Clear-Out Challenge, a campaign that aims to generate 250,000 garment donations in September. This celebrity-backed campaign will help to raise funds for Traid's global projects in support of garment workers, organic cotton farmers and a more sustainable fashion industry.

"65% of the population are now wearing something second-hand; we are on a mission to make this 100%," said Maria Chenoweth, chief Executive of Traid, in a statement. To participate in the challenge and donate, people only need to pick out unwanted items from their wardrobe, go to Traid's website and book a free home collection so that the charity can curate and resell the garments.

In October, the results of the campaign will come to life with a Traid Treasure Hunt featuring garments donated by celebrity supporters and the public.
