Ma Yansong Designs the City of Time Installation in China

MAD Architects founder Ma Yansong unveils the City of Time installation that is created for the Aranya Theater Festival which is located on the beach in Aranya within Northern China. The structure is inspired by the look of a maze and is meant to host a selection of art installations and events throughout the festival. The installation is constructed from recycled metal panels and has several differently shaped rooms that are closed off by high walls.

Yansong notes "The City of Time dissolves after 300 hours. Revolving around an axis perpendicular to the sea, it offers a spiritual roost for creators. Taking flight and transcending reality, it is a place dedicated to time, human behavior, and nature, inspiring contemplation on our relationships with ourselves and the world."
