Celebrated 'Fight Club' author Chuck Palahniuk is looking to take another of his novels to the big screen with the help of a Kickstarter campaign. The award-winning book 'Lullaby' was inspired by the murder of Chuck Palahniuk's parents.
Asked to take part in the court's decision towards his parent's killer, he was led to create the idea of the "culling song," a type of lullaby that is rehearsed and has the power to kill people. As Chuck Palahniuk explains, "Lullaby is the book about dealing with whether or not I advocated the death penalty, after the man was convicted of killing my father. Lullaby is about a supernatural form of ancient power."
The theme of the book is made to make people uncomfortable, but its plot is difficult to translate to film. To prevent unwanted changes to his work that could tarnish its intent, Chuck Palahniuk is fundraising to bring his work to life on the right terms. By contributing to the project, supporters will have the chance to vote on certain production choices while gaining access to exclusive rewards.
