Should your child fall into the hands of a kidnapper, you'll be glad you downloaded the Federal Bureau of Investigations' first-ever app, Child ID.
Downloadable for free, this smartphone program gives parents a direct line to the local authorities and the means to provide them with all the relevant information: Name, age, last location and a recent photo. For privacy's sake, Child ID doesn't store or save the information you upload, which is only accessible when you decide to contact the police.
Included with Child ID are tips on children's safety and what to do in the event a child disappears, which, according to the FBI, happens every 40 seconds. Now that it's been released, this app may very well save lives.
