Hillary Clinton's cleavage has been quite the conversation talk this past week.
The presidential candidate who is usually dressed fashionably yet conservative, has been facing a lot of critique for displaying what many considered to be a little bit too much cleavage.
The Sun Times reported, "It wasn't only the Times of India that got into the fray; it was bloggers, the New York Times and the conservative Web site RightPundits.com, which published a photo of bare breasted women protesting in front of Clinton's San Francisco office carrying signs that read: "Breasts Not Bombs."
It all started with a few comments from Washington Post fashion writer, Robin Givhan last week who commented on the way Clinton chose to emphasize her bust.
It's tough to be taken seriously as a woman in politics; German chancellor Angela Merkel hasn't had it easy either. Too many women in leadership positions or in authoritative roles become to hard and aggressive, taking on masculine traits. Clinton opted to maintain her femininity and isn't afraid to express herself, which would be difficult without her huge fan following.
Fashion police like Givhan don't feel the same way, however, who was successful at bringing a bombardment of negative attention Clinton's way after she opted for a black low-cut top under her blazer. "It's tempting to say that the cleavage stirs the same kind of discomfort that might be churned up after spotting Rudy Giuliani with his shirt unbuttoned just a smidge too far. No one wants to see that. But really, it was more like catching a man with his fly unzipped. Just look away!" Meow!
