The Canals Collection by DUX, a design studio founded by brother and sister duo Sander and Heleen Hagelaar, is a line of lighting inspired by their native Dutch canals. A combination of handcraft and industrial design, it was initially created as a school project by Sander, who happens to still be a product design student in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Made out of thin pieces of plywood, the light fixtures making up the Canals Collection by DUX are elegantly fluid whether they rest on the floor or hang from the ceiling. A play with light and air, there is a featherweight feel about each design that allows each one to have their own unique sense of movement.
