Campos Studio Designs a Sculptural Cliffside Home in Mexico

Vancouver-based design studio Campos Studio has designed a sculptural white home detailed with a large cantilever nestled on a rocky coastline of Los Zacatitos. It honors the nature it is surrounded by nodding to both the sky and the sea in Baja California. The team references the quote by poet Victor Hugo, "There is one spectacle grander than the sea, that is the sky."

The large deck is both covered and open facing the ocean. The team shares, "It provides an open place from which to watch the sun, a place that seamlessly transitions into an area shaded by the cantilevered volume of the bedrooms when the sun rises. When the desert heat and sun become relentless one can retreat to the connected interior spaces which bury themselves into the slope, where the earth acts as a heat sink that helps minimize the daily temperature fluctuations."
