Famed celebrity gossip blogger, "Perez Hilton" may be facing a lawsuit thanks to Britney Spears. Mario Lavandeira, better known as Perez, is being grilled for illegally posting songs and images from Britney's yet to be released "comeback" album, Blackout.
"Zomba dropped a lawsuit on the gossip blogger for obtaining and uploading at least 10 completed songs and incomplete demos from Blackout," Dose reported, adding "The copyright infringement suit does not specify the monetary damages being sought."
This isn't the first time Perez has been in trouble with the law. "Perez was brought to court to appear on a $20 million defamation case stemming from posts he made claiming DJ Samantha Roson was responsible for the cocaine in Lindsay Lohan's DUI case," Dose reports.
He has stolen photos, been charged with defamation and copyright infringement.
Bloggers are entitled freedom of speech, but the reality is, some things still need screening. Libelous or defamatory statements still don't have clear regulations. Although the majority of bloggers play it safe and avoid making damaging statements, there are still some who take the risk. Most of them get away with it. However, as blogs begin to become more influential or as well-read as Perez Hilton's, someone is going to need to reconsider the rules of the blogosphere.
