Business in the Community (BITC) is an initiative that has been around more than 30 years. That is to say, it has predated much of the current social business and social enterprise talk, although, that doesn't mean it doesn't engage. Its name is exactly what it does; BITC aims to get businesses and corporations involved in the community to be more socially responsible and sustainable.
BITC also offers a number of different service including a responsible business index, training, awards, partnerships and advisory services. They are currently behind Start UK's nation-wide sustainable food campaign, an endeavor that will certainly push the recognition not only of the events they run but also the very core of what they do.
