In 2021, The Makeup Museum will be publishing the first inclusive beauty history book, Beauty Stories, featuring content from diverse contributors. The book is designed to showcase different perspectives, stories and images so that the beauty rituals of Black, Indigenous and People of Color are no longer overlooked. As The Makeup Museum opened its doors with a mission to share the history of beauty from a wide range of narratives from around the world, this book offers a look into the way beauty practices are unique yet similar. Doreen Bloch, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Makeup Museum, says: "Our first book spotlights how beauty traverses color, gender, ability and more. The way that people use pigments and tools to create beauty is a universal practice."
Beauty Stories from Around the World will be the first book published by The Makeup Museum and each chapter will be devoted to a different cultural beauty ritual or theme.
