Imagine spending your afternoons lazing around in this timber-clad beachside villa taking in the last rays of the day as you sip on a delicious sangria. Just the thought of that makes you want to call this geometrically pattered haven home.
Located in Port Phillip Bay, on Australia's south coast, this stunning architectural gem was designed by Wolveridge Architects. This timber-clad beachside villa, also know as the Blairgowrie House, is home to a young family who wanted to be close to nature.
When you walk into the house there is a sense of warmth, comfort and a serene beauty. Made using locally sourced timber, the interior decor is all about exposed wooden walls and timber-paneled floors. The multiplied geometric motif found in the interior and designed on the exterior of the house pay homage to the Knox homes (an architect in the 1960s) which feature perforated breeze blocks.
"One of the owners grew up in Eltham, a rural bushland retreat east of the city in a house designed by Alistair Knox," says one of the architects. "The imagery portrayed by the client of a childhood memory growing up in a Knox dwelling had a significant impact on the project."
