The Basket Apartments by OFIS Architects is Made for Students

The Basket Apartments happen to look like a pile of building blocks that have been haphazardly stacked by a two-year-old. In place of neat lines and a symmetrical aesthetic, the Basket Apartments boast jutting angles that make it appear as though it is one gust of wind away from toppling over. Thankfully there is more to this structure than simply adding one piece onto the next.

Designed by OFIS Architects, the Basket Apartments was created as student housing in Paris, France. Its playful aesthetic is perfect for its youthful inhabitants. Comprised of 11 floors altogether, it is divided into a technical space in the basement, shared programs on the ground floor and student apartments on the upper nine floors. Practical and modular, the Basket Apartments is a healthy environment for studying, learning and meeting.
