The Barrel Lamp boasts a clean and contemporary aesthetic that may have people thinking about wooden casks, especially when taking its name into account. Of course, it would be too easy if the Barrel Lamp was inspired by the item it was named after. Instead, it was modeled after World War II searchlights. That becomes immediately apparent by the shape of the Barrel Lamp.
Designed by Nieuwe Heren, a studio based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, the Barrel Lamp was created for the recently launched Dutch design label called New Duivendrecht. While the design of the light fixture is more relatable and warm, there is still a strength and sturdiness about it that will provide people with a different type of comfort. It is made out of wood, steel and concrete.
