With bright and vibrant interiors, Bar Beau serves as an amazing example of trendy Brooklyn eateries as it serves up food, cocktails and cafe-style coffees. Owned and operated by Claire Chan, the bar serves as an expansive sequel to her West Village cafe, the Elk. Separated into two spaces, the front serves as an all-day cafe and carries heavy inspiration from the Elk. However, behind the cafe, accessible via a curved passageway, is a 65-seat bar that features small plates and cold drinks in a quasi-secluded space.
Bar Beau currently intends to serve 10 house cocktails and 15 small plates. Every item on the menu comes complete with Japanese ingredients and aim to take restrained cues from the Pacific Northwest. Flavors represented in the small plates include Kewpie mayo, licorice-like Thai basil and Romesco sauce. The cocktails take a similar influence and feature floral gin, bright yuzu, smoky mezcal and even drops of hemp oil.
