After launching Discarded Sweet Cascara Vermouth, William Grant & Sons is expanding its Discarded Spirit Co. portfolio with Discarded Banana Peel Rum. Enjoying a banana calls for the removal of the peel, which is generally discarded but Discarded Spirit Co. sources banana peels from a flavor house to give the organic waste a new life. After drying, fermenting and steeping the peels in alcohol, the rum and banana peel extract come together to form a flavorful product.

The fruity rum is said to have fresh notes of toffee, and William Grant & Sons' Tom Stannard says that "The best way to describe the flavor is liquid banana bread, distinctive yet comforting." Discarded Banana Peel Rum is recommended on its own, with ginger ale or enjoyed in a cocktail.
