The underbelly of an overpass can be a creepy place at night, but thanks to Ballroom Luminoso that is not the case for a particular one found in San Antonio, Texas. Ballroom Luminoso is a set of six chandeliers that illuminates the concrete space in a beautiful and almost magical way.
Created by artists Joe O’Connell and Blessing Hancock, the light fixtures that make up Ballroom Luminoso are custom made out of structural steel, LEDs and recycled bicycle parts. Taking on the shape of spheres, the filigree facade has a punk edge with imagery of skulls, cranks and more. According to the artists, "Ballroom Luminoso references the area’s past, present, and future in the design of its intricately detailed medallions."
Ballroom Luminoso shines brightly in mesmerizingly deep pinks and bright blues.
