LA-based wine importer and marketer Guarachi Wine Partners has released Bacon wine. The bold, rich and juicy wine comes from a Rhône-style blend and hails from California's central coast. The name is purely tongue-in-cheek and the wine does not actually contain any actual bacon or any notes of it. Instead, the palette is greeted with hints of peppery spics, bursts of spice bramble berry jam, charred caramel and ripe tannins. The wine is aged for one year in oak barrels and contains a 15% ABV.
The inspiration for Bacon wine came from the American farm-to-table movement and was designed to complement a variety of dining experiences. According to CEO of Guarachi Wine Partners, Alex Guarachi, "The vision behind Bacon came from my desire to create a one-of-a-kind wine that could be enjoyed by everyone." Guarachi hopes that Bacon wine will eventually find a place at every meal, much like the pork product it derives its name from.
