Layered Wood Furniture

Sustainable Carved Plywood Produces Sinuous Lines When Stacked

Robert Hargrave’s plywood designs feature a fluid sense of movement, emphasized by a black glue line. The alternating light and dark woods from sustainably harvested trees have a natural variety of colors. The artist dyes the layers different colors in order to increase the number of possible combinations. The lacquer finish seals and protects each signed piece.

The Florida-based artist spent time working in New York and Boston, but has returned to the Sunshine State where he originally studied art. Hargrave has developed his designs and distinctive style over the past thirty plus years.
