5G-Powered Dresses

EE Created a First-of-Its-Kind Augmented Reality Dress for the Red Carpet

For the upcoming EE British Academy Film Awards 2020, EE will be debuting the world's first 5G-powered augmented reality dress live on the red carpet. The dress was created in collaboration with multi-disciplinary artist Richard Malone and it is notable not just for its high-tech features but also its sustainably sourced fabric made from ocean waste, recycled wool and factory waste.

The hand-sewn dress is comprised of six layers and contains over 12 body-length wires and 18 sensor bulbs. On the night of the event, the dress will physically transform in real-time as TV presenter Maya Jama walks the red carpet. For those who are curious about the 5G-powered augmented reality dress that fuses physical and digital fashion, EE will be hosting livestreams on social media.
