The Arena do Morro in Brazil was designed as a multipurpose stadium to house a number of different sporting events, gymnastics and general activities for people of all ages. The architecture firm responsible for the design is Herzog & de Meuron, who were looking to build a gymnasium that responded to the heat that can be experienced in the area.
As such, the firm equipped the building with a diagonal panelled roof that allows sufficient airflow throughout, while also ensuring that rain doesn't fall through the slats. The design is perfect for the location in Brazil where heat can be an issue, but wet weather also occurs.
