The Arctigenin Brightening Treatment Features a Vitamin C Alternative

Vitamin C is a powerhouse ingredient for brightening skin, reducing hyperpigmentation and boosting collagen, but its instability and tendency to oxidize pose formulation challenges, prompting the launch of the Arctigenin Brightening Treatment with an alternative brightening ingredient.

Epicutis founder and CEO Maxwell Stock set out to find a better way to brighten skin and turned to his biotech company, Signum Biosciences. "We’ve been developing this technology for nearly six years," says Stock, "We’ve developed an extraction process to allow for very high levels of arctigenin, which is able to reduce melanin in human skin. This ingredient is very soluble, stable and safe, unlike vitamin C and other brighteners like hydroquinone." In addition to its brightening properties, arctigenin is anti-inflammatory and redness-reducing.
