In the hopes of adding another artistic dimension to his already inspiring art pieces, Andreas Franke dragged an entire collection of his to the bottom of the sea!
Magnets hold 12 Photoshopped paintings to the bulkhead of the USNS Vandenberg, a warship that permanently resides 93 feet below the surface of Florida, Key West's clear blue waters. The waterproof paintings depict the surreal, spectral life of ghosts still aboard the capsized vessel and were painstakingly dragged to the ocean floor by artist Andreas Franke.
The 522-foot warship was sunk as part of a controlled demolition several years ago in the hopes of creating an artificial reef. So beyond the local aquatic fauna, the only observers of Franke's art are the scuba divers -- there are no pirate ghosts wandering around.
