Alt Arkkitehdit Clad This Woodland House in Rusted Corten Steel

When tasked with building a house nestled into the woods of forested back country, Finnish architecture studio Alt Arkkitehdit decided to stick to the motif of the surrounding area. Rather than sticking out from its woodland surrounding, Alt Arkkitehdit's house uses materials that help it to blend into the forest.

The most notable design aspect of the house is its rusty facade. Covered in panels of pre-rusted Corten steel, the house takes on a weathered appearance that makes it chromatically and texturally similar to its natural surroundings. Further, other areas of the house are clad in graying spruce planks that are sourced from the same woods in which the house itself sits. Finally, the house's sloping roof is covered in sod that is the same type of grass that covers the area.
