Following an app that hilariously misjudged people's ages using artificial intelligence, this dating app is testing an AI algorithm to guess age and attractiveness. PhD student Rasmus Rothe from ETH Zurich's Computer Vision Lab developed the technology behind this endeavor from Swiss smartphone application Blinq. They build a stand-alone site called howhot.io to test drive the AI algorithm.
Blinq Co-Founder Jan Berchtold hopes to integrate this algorithm into the dating app so users will have a better idea which of their photos will perform better. This is based on the premise that robotically judged hotness will result in more matches and potential relationships. Image data and attractiveness ratings from the app are fed into the algorithm.
