Kadriorg Park in Tallinn, Estonia, now includes an incredible walkway, called 'A Path in the Forest,' that winds through the trees' trunks and up into the forest's canopy.
This walkway, an installation designed by Tetsuo Kondo Architects, is made of 95 metres of steel tubes. The structure of the tubed walkway relies on the forest; the tubes rest against tree trunks so that there is no need for columns or other support beams. The designers describe the experience as one that allows people to experience the forest from a closer perspective -- near the branches and leaves, rather than from the ground and looking up at the trees.
According to Dezeen, the installation is part of the LIFT11 festival, which features installations in the city's public places for the European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.
