Julian Hansen is a 22-year-old graphic design student at the Danish School of Media and Journalism whose poster titled "So You Need a Typeface" was impressive enough to land him an article in Inspiration Lab, a blog written by one of his professors.
With mind-twisting logic and a smattering of fonts, boxes, circles and lots of lines, Julian Hansen has masterfully maneuvered his way through the graphic designer’s font choice decision matrix without losing his sense of humor. The end result is a gloriously organized infographic that is not only useful and insightful, but also happily filled with originality.
According to Hansen, "So you need a typeface is an alternative way on how to choose fonts (or just be inspired) for a specific project, not just by browsing through the pages of FontBook. The list is (very loosely) based on the top 50 of the Top 100 Best Schrieften by Font Shop."
So You Need a Typeface is available as 24-inch by 18-inch art print printed on Astrobrights Eclipse black 80# cover with metallic silver ink; it will be difficult for type lovers and graphic artists to resist. (I know I want one!)
